FINAL REFLECTIONS

BUSINESS

STRATEGY

To come up with a strong business strategy, we considered to combine medicine, fashion and beauty industry and health together to create a clothing line for our target market.

Every women who is insecure of her body and skin, feels vulnerable, week and falls into depression because of the high beauty standards in the fashion industry.

 

After doing our research, we realised how important it is for every women to accept her own self

 

One of our group members also shared her personal story about how she feels when she enters fast fashion brands for shopping, having a curvy, healthy body, she does not feel confident and comfortable in fast fashion brands. Because the fashion industry has set high standards of having a perfect body, a flat stomach for a women, almost all women we interviewed for our research felt that the industry is not sensitive towards its customers.

 

Since the past few years, Industry had started being a little concerned about plus size women, but brands were not concerned about how to make a plus size women feel confident naturally. Creating larger sizes of crop tops or lingerie, promoting plus size women on their campaign images, does not mean that every plus size women would be comfortable or feel confident in a crop top or a tight fitted dress.

Do only plus size women need confidence ? Can only women with a flat stomach look good in every garment ?

 

What about the women who are between these 2 sizes, how do we make them not feel less and a part of the fashion industry. Make them feel important and create something for them as well.

 

Combining health, beauty and fashion, we created a brand NOT APPLICABLE, for every women who believes in embracing herself. From the word health, we took inspiration from the silhouettes of hospital gowns, since they are loose, women would feel comfortable in garments which are not very tight fitted. From the word beauty, we took inspiration from skin diseases and acne which indigo ferra and woad help to cure. The patterns represent the insecurities of a women for her body and skin.

 

In conclusion, Not Applicable hopes to heal every women’s insecurities and help her embrace herself.

OVERALL

REFLECTION

Before starting this project, we all were scared and nervous since FMI and FDT were collaborating together. We all had never worked with each other and didn’t know if we would be able to understand each other’s point of views and concerns about the project.

 

In these 15 weeks of working together, we all have built an understanding and respect for one another, have learnt a lot from each other during group meetings and discussions, listening to each other’s perspectives and valuing each one’s opinion, we were not only able to build a brand for our project but also a friendship.

 

This project, helped us gain a practical experience of how the fashion industry in the real world works, it made each of us realise how important every one’s role is to create a brand. It also broadened our knowledge about Indigo, a natural dye which most of us did not deeply value. We realised the importance of sustainable fashion and how important it is to make a change in the industry. We also became more sensitive, and realised how important it is to consider our customer’s feelings. This brand is created out of our personal stories and experiences we shared with each other, how we feel about ourselfves, why we dress the way we do ?

 

And why was it important for us to make every women feel confident and love themselves.

 

This project has been extremely emotional and empowering for all of us. Creating a brand for empowering the women in the industry, we all connected to our brand story to an extent that we were able to remove our personal insecurities and weakness as well, this project helped each one of us to come out of our comfort zone and enhance our personality.

 

We also learnt how important it is to connect to our customers, to create something meaningful with a purpose to not only earn profit in the market, but to also to help out the women in the industry through our brand, to support women like us and make every women stronger and better everyday.
